The soon to be released IP Office Version 6 software release is to include some long awaited and interesting new features and hardware. Avaya have announced a hardware revision of the IP500, imaginatively named IP500 V2. This will add support for new “combination cards”. A combination card will use 1 slot but will provide 10 VCM channels, 6 Digital Extn ports and 2 Analog Extn ports. They will also give you either 4 Analog Trunk ports or 2 ISDN2e ports.
Release 6 also adds support for the Avaya 9600 Series IP telephones and the Avaya 1400 Series Digital Telephones. The existing range of handsets are still supported. The new one-X portal is a Phone Manager type facility that runs in your web browser. It uses “Gadgets” to allow you to easily control your telephone from your PC. Also new is IP Office Video Softphone which does exactly what it says on the tin: It’s a Softphone with Video support as well!
We’ll let you know more over the next few weeks once we’ve had a chance to test it.
