This week has seen the world’s largest gathering for the mobile phone industry. Mobile World Congress 2017, an event organised by the GSMA and held in Barcelona, has just wrapped up.

Most of the biggest phone-makers launched their latest handsets. And it was the most diverse range of devices we’ve seen in a long time. This week saw the latest in cutting-edge technology revealed. We also saw mass excitement and news coverage around the globe with the launch of a Nokia classic, retro handset.

No, you haven’t travelled back in time like time travel in the film ‘Back to the Future’! Nokia has released a new take on its classic phone the 3310 and fans are just as excited about it as they were when it first hit shelves 17 years ago. And while it’s retained some of our favourite features from the original, the new 3310 has been updated to bring it in-line with expectations of modern smartphone users. For example, the screen size has been increased and it comes with long battery life (22 hours). Although it comes in retro colours, looks great and will appeal to a fun loving consumer audience, it is unlikely to ever be popular as a business mobile because of its limited functionality.

There were some really good products launched this week. Nokia has made the move to Android which is a huge move for them. iCS will be offering the 3, 5 and 6 models, which have great specs and great prices. Other interesting devices included the Blackberry KeyOne: an Android phone with a keyboard, the LG G6: a solid high spec phone and the Moto G5: a great handset.
