What is safeguarding?

Safeguarding pupils is a key area of concern for Head teachers and is defined in Ofsted guidance as protecting children from any “maltreatment” or negative effects on their “health or development”.

It includes “ensuring that children are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care” and “taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes”.

The guidance suggests schools need to protect pupils from issues including physical, sexual and emotional abuse, as well as bullying, domestic violence, and substance misuse. Ofsted has previously placed schools in special measures over these failings, regardless of their academic performance.

How your school phone system helps safeguarding pupils

One of the areas which can assist is the school phone system. Implementing call recording will ensure that the school has access to every inbound and outbound call. Every call is recorded and stored confidentially with only a selected number of the school leadership team having access.

Call recording is simple to use and can help with everything from resolving disputes, addressing safeguarding concerns to tackling pupil absenteeism. This addresses safeguarding concerns in between Ofsted visits, keeps parents on side and  increases school operational efficiency. Call recording comes as a FREE upgrade with many of our phone systems.
